QualcommQCOM) said on Friday it had terminated its acquisition of Autotalks, an Israeli company that makes communications chips that help prevent car accidents.
Qualcomm is best known for making chips for mobile phones, but it has also built an extensive automotive chip business. Britain's top antitrust regulator said in February this year that it was investigating the deal (link).
"Qualcomm has terminated the transaction to acquire Autotalks due to failure to obtain timely regulatory approvals," Qualcomm said in a statement. "Automotive is a very important vertical for Qualcomm, and we remain fully committed to our product roadmap, our customers and our partners."
